INSTRUCTOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Responsible for managing the budget to ensure that well over a million rounds of ammo were accounted for every fiscal year and maintaining all training records for approximately 4,000 students yearly

  • Researched and authored an extensive “Smart Gun Technology” white paper outlining police department’s opinion which was presented to State Government for legislative purposes.

  • Appointed as a member of a state Police Firearms Training Commission Regulations Board which set trainingpolicies for all L.E. agencies in the state

  • Instituted departmental Patrol Rifle Program (weapon and ammo selection, equipment T&E and selection, program design, budget/purchasing, instruction, etc.)

  • Completed an intensive pistol testing and evaluation project to select new departmental sidearm and support equipment. Created pistol and holster transition program for over 1,800 members which was accomplished in a six month period and saw an overall increase in departmental scores

  • Created and led the police department’s Terrorism Training Team. Supervisory counterterrorism instructor, teaching Specialized and In-Service Counter-Terrorism Training

  • Hired as an Adjunct Instructor with the SigArms/Sig Sauer Academy teaching various instructor, terrorism, firearms and armorer courses

  • Awarded the “Governor’s Citation” for training the Military in preparation for Operation Vigilant Guard

  • Assisted in the design and supervised the construction of approximately $750,000 in range improvements

  • Created and instituted an innovative Active Shooter Training Program that was taught to 1,800+ students and completed in a 6-month period. This resulted in being Awarded the Chief’s Award and an award from the National Association of Counties (NACO) for innovative program designs in government as it was designed to not only be realistic but inexpensive and logistically feasible

  • Awarded “Instructor of the Year” by a state Police Training Commission

  • After years of research, testing and field trials, convinced the police department to implement two separate “Less Lethal Weapons” system. These use-of-force tools have been used numerous times with positive results and a reduction in injury to officers and citizens

  • Created, scheduled and was the primary instructor for several specialized firearms and tactics schools for the agency: Officer Survival, Active Shooter, Counter Terrorism Tactics, Firearms Instructor School, Specialized Shotgun and Rifle, Reduced Light Training, etc.

  • Presented various topics (from firearms safety, active shooter, terrorism, etc.) at training conferences and local civic organizations throughout the country (including IALEFI) to audiences from across the world.

  • Published Author and nominated to the National Advisory Board of the Police Marksman Magazine in the field of Terrorism and Tactics

  • Worked a week and a half in New Orleans immediately after Hurricane Katrina struck assisting in the recovery operation while conducting executive protection details

  • Attended and/or selected to teach at the Annual ILEETA American Training Conference (2006) and at IALEFI’s American Training Conference (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006,2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012)

  • Nominated to the Charter Board of Directors for the Professional Law Enforcement Trainers Association (PLETA) as a Terrorism and firearms tactics contributor. Nominated to the position of Secretary

  • Successfully co-wrote and received 1.9 million grant from private foundation, State and local government, funding the expansion of a specially trained police unit
